Lahontan State Recreation Area is perfect for PWC riding, boating, fishing, camping or just relaxing. It is located 18 miles west of Fallon on highway 50, on the Carson river.
The reservoir is 17 miles long with 69 miles of shoreline. When full, it contains 10,000 surface acres of water. Beaches can be accessed from highway 50 in Churchill County as well as from highway 95 at Silver Springs in Lyon County.
Watercraft can be launched from paved boat ramps on either side, or from any beach that is open to camping if you have a 4x4. For complete information on park rules, regulations and fees please see our links below.
Power Line riding area is approximately 6 1/2 miles out of Fallon. When leaving from Fallon, Travel south on Allen Road to Sheckler Road. Travel west on Sheckler Road to the 90 degree turn. Continue straight through the turn and the road becomes Power Line Road. Continue straight off of the pavement until you reach the canal.
This is a great area to off load your ATV's. From here you can ride in any direction and find a variety of conditions. The picnic table is a great place to break for a bite to eat and some story telling..
Sand Mountain Recreational Park is approximately 25 miles east of Fallon on Highway 50. Sand Mountain stands 600 feet high with an impressive 4795 acres of recreation area. Here you will find The Sand Dune of all dunes. If you want to play hard or just come out and bask in the sun, Sand Mountain is sure to be an Xcape to remember!
Grimes Point Archaeological Area is located just 11 miles east of Fallon on highway 50. The parking area has recently been paved and offers a restroom, sheltered picnic tables and information on the petroglyphs and hidden caves in the area. This is a great place to begin a ride that will be filled with adventure, history and culture.
